As well as housing a team of brilliant minds, the Innovation Centre has been home to The Claymore, SPEX's custom-built supercomputer. With a process speed in excess of 100 trillion operations per second, it performed at  speeds over 1,000 times faster than conventional engineering workstations availabe at the time of its introduction. The Claymore was made available for both SPEX led commercial projects and customer specific projects.

SPEX is committed to maintaining and enhancing it’s High Performance Computing (HPC) capability by utilising the latest computer hardware and software technologies. This committment has allowed SPEX to move from multiple machine cluster configurations (previously known as The Claymore  Supercomputer) to dedicated, state of the art, high performance, HPC workstations.

As a result, this has enabled analysis speed-up times of over 2 fold over those seen with The Claymore, thereby reducing design evaluation and optimisation turnaround time.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis methods are partnered with 3D prototyping facilities.
